This Year’s Amaryllis - this is the second in a series of paintings that emerged early in 2022 as this year's blub grew and grew (and grew). A series of studies were made as the the plant revealed those glorious red flowers over a matter of days. I'm sure I could almost see it growing, I'd sit down to paint it and within a couple of hours there'd be another inch of growth. This is one of a series of five studies made over a period of around two weeks in February 2022 alongside a number of other drawings and larger paintings of this year's Amaryllis.
